How come I can't retrieve my attachments in Outlook or Outlook Express?
Outlook XP and Outlook Express blocks/hides attachments that can be harmful to your computer, these types of files include *.exe, *.vbs, *.js and *.html, *.reg and other files that I can't recall from the top of my head. They did this b/c lots of careless users would open attachments that was a virus (compiled into exe files) or had malicious scripts that could spread to other users via Outlook and your contacts/address book. One way around this if you really need these types of files is to revert back to the old non SR1 Outlook version OR have your friends / co-workers rename a file w/ a *.txt extension, such as openme.exe.txt and Outlook will allow the attachment to be sent/received. This new feature in Outlook will also block out the attachments containing file extensions listed above for messages that were received by previous versions of Outlook.
